When defining the job of a product manager, at least one of two definitions always pops up: Marty Cagan’s aim “to discover a product that is valuable, usable and feasible”, and Martin Eriksson’s Venn diagram putting product at “the intersection between business, technology and user experience”. Besides being both widely accepted and compatible definitions, they also share the characteristic of being made up of 3 pieces.
This makes it tempting to try and fit them together — at least it was for me! In this talk, I propose a way of combining these definitions together and using that combination for product managers to assess, leverage and improve their skills.
